The American Medical Association classified addiction as a disease in 1987, yet many misconceptions around addiction still linger. Mom of an Addict offers group meetings where participants can learn about the disease of addiction and find other families who currently have a family member in active addiction, have a family member incarcerated due to substances, have lost someone to this horrific disease, or who have a loved one in recovery.
