NAMI Fort Wayne Family Support had a special guest visitor on Tuesday, January 31! Coco the Gorilla shared his enthusiasm for all things NAMI by greeting attendees at the door and guiding them to refreshments (don’t touch the banana)! There were plenty of chuckles as everyone was reminded that one of the group’s Principles of Support is to embrace humor.
Modeling a stylish T-shirt from the first ever Run White & Blue race, Coco also encouraged everyone to mark their calendars and sign up for the annual 5K. Held at the beautiful Foster Park on July 4th, this out-and-back 5K is always lots of fun. Free Kona Ice, door prizes and a contest for the best red, white and blue costume are just some of the perks. We can’t share the T-shirt design yet, but it’s going to be awesome!
Register today at NAMI Run White and Blue . Entrance fee is $32 with a special rate of $15 for those 14 and younger.
If you or a loved one is facing a mental health challenge, consider attending a NAMI Support Group. NAMI support groups are unique. They follow a structured model to ensure you and others in the group have an opportunity to be heard and participate in productive discussions. They are safe and confidential. Sharing your experiences with peers helps you develop positive relationships, belong to an empathetic community and gain hope. For more information, see the Support Groups section of our website.
