Employment Services

The Carriage House

Offers members opportunities to develop skills, confidence and personal connections to enable a return to the workplace.

Members begin by participating in a work-ordered day at the Carriage House, structured around doing things together — not as staff and clients, but as colleagues. Cooking meals, running the office, tending the garden, welcoming new members. Employment assistance is provided, if desired, through transitional or supported employment programs as appropriate.

Transitional employment is a part-time, limited-duration job opportunity, usually 6-9 months. Employers provide job opportunities to the Carriage House, qualified members are then offered appropriate positions, and the Carriage House provides backup staff to the employer if the member requires absence from the job on a particular day.

Supported employment is a permanent position. The Carriage House assists employers by referring qualified individuals who are ready for more independent work. The Carriage House may provide initial on-site training and ongoing support for these positions; however, staff does not cover for absences.
